You’ve got your coffee machine, toaster oven, knife block, Instant Pot, and that pile of clutter you’re meaning to take care of — countertop real estate in your kitchen might be tight. But you may want to push something aside and make room for an
Air Fryer
.
What’s an Air Fryer?
An Air Fryer is a kitchen appliance that cooks by circulating hot air around the food using the convection mechanism. We can say it is a smaller version of the convection oven.
How does Air Fryer work?
Air Fryers use rapid air technology to create heat instead of an element (either gas or electric). That helps them heat up much more quickly than an oven. That small size helps them circulate the heat more evenly, crisping up your food without hot spots. It won’t heat your kitchen as an oven do.
Best Foods to cook in an Air Fryer?
It is indisputable that Air Fryer is great for cooking frozen foods like tater tots, chicken nuggets and fries. But this is not a device only for convenience foods, it can do more than this.
Roasted Vegetables
To cook tender vegetables in an Air Fryer, preheat your Air Fryer to 375°F. Prep your veggies by chopping them to the size you want, optionally drizzling with oil (this will make them a bit more roasted tasting in the end). Add to your Air Fryer in as flat of a layer as possible and cook for 10 to 15 minutes, shaking the Air Fryer pan once or twice during cooking to promote even cooking. If it is to cook firm vegetables, you need to cook 20 to 30 minutes.
Doughnuts
If you love donuts but hate deep frying, Air Fryer is a better choice. Donuts made in Air Fryer are soft on the outside and have a fluffy, tender interior. Many Air Fryer Donut recipes use canned biscuit dough, which is easier. To prevent the donuts from sticking, you’ll want to spray the Air Fryer basket with just a bit of oil (opt for olive oil or coconut oil spray). After cutting small holes out of the center of your biscuits, you’ll place them in a single layer in the basket of the Air Fryer then set to 350°F and cook, flipping once, until golden brown. You can brush the donuts with butter or sweet cinnamon-sugar if you like.
BBQ Chicken
Using Air Fryer can make the skin of the chicken extra crispy and thus extra delicious. The barbecue sauce keeps the chicken nice and moist, balancing out the crunch of the skin perfectly. After sprinkling the seasoning over the chicken and allow to marinate for 30 minutes and preheat your Air Fryer to 360°F. Select chicken to cook 20 minutes and brush the chicken with barbecue sauce every 5 minutes. When cooking is done, serving with some more barbecue sauce on the side.
All in all, if you have the money to invest in a new appliance and the space to store it, then go for it!
