It is no doubt the Roomba series is among the best vacuum cleaners in the market. One of the best vacuums in this series is the Roomba i7. It is a smart and high-performance robot vacuum. It is equipped with smart technology such as gyro, VSLAM, IMU data, IR sensors, and camera for efficient mapping and cleaning of your home. It perfectly and safely cleans through the hardwood floors, tiles, and carpets. You will not be the performance of this robot. Here are more features to help you make an informed decision.
1. Navigation
The Roomba i7 irobot robot vacuum cleaner is equipped with the latest iAdapt 3.0 navigation system with smart mapping technology. The Imprint Smart Mapping stores the layout from the sensors and camera to the cloud server.

With the assistance of the stored maps, the robot cleans the floors effectively without starting the cycle all over again. The smart navigation system makes cleaning on specific areas more convenient and easy. It easily and quickly finds its way around the house and back to the dock.

2. Suction and Performance
The suction power of the Roomba i7 delivers extremely powerful suction, which for excellent pick-up performance. Besides the powerful suction power, the robot has longer rollers capable of picking large-sized debris and dirt.

The rollers are useful for removing pet hair and dirt trapped in the carpet. The extractors have deep nubs for better agitation.

Another benefit of the Roomba i7 is that these rollers are low maintenance. The hair does not tangle or cling on the bristles. The Roomba i7 perfectly cleans well in all types of surfaces: the hardwood floors, high-pile, and low-pile carpets as well as the tiled floors.

Another feature that makes this robot effective in cleaning is two ribbed and multi-surface rubber brushes with Dirt sensors for different surfaces.

3. Design
The design of the Roomba i7 is not any different from other competitor’s vacuum cleaners. It weighs 3.3kg with dimensions of 9.2cm high and a diameter of 33.8cm. The round shape of this robot keeps it moving swiftly and to avoid getting stuck on the corners. The robot has three buttons with a camera at the bottom. The color of this robot vacuum is light gray.

4. Battery Life and Charge Time
When the robot is fully charged, it can clean for 70-90 minutes, depending on the floor. If you want a fast charge, the battery will be 80% charged in 90 minutes. The full charge of the robot takes three hours.

5. The App Set-up
You can download the clean app on your phone and set up the robot's account with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The maximum band distance from the router is 30 meters. If you have a large house, you can initiate cleaning from anywhere. The mobile app is quick, easy to use, and intuitive. Besides the mobile app, you can link the Roomba i7 with Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.

How to Clean Roomba i7
To keep your Roomba i7 working optimally at all times, you have to perform some maintenance. Here’s how you should clean up the robot.
  • Remember to empty the bin after every use.
  • Clean the side brush after every month.
  • Wipe clean the cliff sensors using a microfiber cloth.
  • Ensure to remove hair or debris trapped in the extractors. Replace the extractors after every six-twelve months.
  • Clean the charging contacts.
  • Remove and clean the HEPA filters once a week and have them replaced after two months.
  • Replace the bag on the clean base station at least once a month. However, this should depend on how much you do the cleaning.
  • Remember always to clean the floor tracking sensors.
  • Wipe clean the dirt bin sensor ports using a dry microfiber cloth.
  • Ensure to clean the front castor wheel after two weeks and replace them after one year of use.

What is the Difference between the Roomba i7 and Roomba i7+?
Both the Roomba i7 and i7+ have excellent performance qualities. However, there are a few differences between the two.
  • The Roomba i7+ has a smart base which is not present in the i7.
  • The i7 comes at a lower price compared to i7+.
  • The i7+ works more independently with minimal assistance compared to i7
  • The i7+ has a self-emptying dustbin. When the i7+ robot docks in its cradle, its system recognizes the rubber flap sealing the collection bin is shut. As the battery is charging, the dock empties the dust bin. A feature that is not present in the model i7.
  • The charging docks for the two models are different. The charging dock for the i7 is called Home Base. It plugs to the outlet and waits for the robot to dock. The charging dock for the i7+ is known as the Clean Base. Its charging station has a 14-inch tall tower that stands against the wall.
If you have the i7 model and wondering if you can upgrade to i7+, yes, you can. The two models are almost identical, except for the dustbin. To upgrade the model to i7+, you will have to buy the Clean Base Dirt Disposal System. The system will come with a Clean Base and a new collection bin and a starter bag for the base tower. Make the replacements for the collection bin and Clean Base, and you are the owner of the Roomba i7+.

The Roomba i7 is a high-performance robot, and it is worth the penny. However, if you are looking for a more significant bin, this might not be the robot you are looking for. You should probably upgrade to Roomba i7+ or consider another brand that covers its downsides.
If you are looking for a robot vacuum that combines the features of both the Roomba i7 and Roomba i7+ without the need for an upgrade or paying the extra cost for the robot, you might as well consider the M6 Pro and M7 Pro from Proscenic. These robots are high-performance and with a bigger bin at a much lower cost than the Roomba.

Here is a review of the M7 Pro:

Design and Features
The M7 Pro is not any different from other modern robot vacuums; it is round-shaped with a raised sensor at the top side. Its dimensions are 13.5 inches diameter and a length of 3.75 inches. It has two side brushes at the bottom and a rolling brush.

The vacuum is equipped with 24 sensors, including the anti-fall and anti-collision. The sensors enable the robot to effectively map your home, avoid obstacles, fall off the stairs, and collide with objects around the house.

Although the robot has a raised laser sensor for easy navigation and mapping of your home, it still can get under the furniture and beds.
Another important feature of the robot is the HEPA filters' presence to kill the allergens in your house.

App Set-Up
Setting the mobile application to the robot is easy and quick using your iOS or Android devices. To run this robot remotely, first, download the ProscenicHome App. Select add device and add M7 Pro. Press and hold the power button for about five seconds to connect to the Wi-Fi. Then, enter the Wi-Fi password to the app and configure it with the settings of your phone.
Other than the app control, the M7 Pro accepts voice commands with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

With a suction power of up to 2,600pa, the M7 Pro is worth the $399 price tag. As it cleans, it maps the specific cleaning paths, and it is displayed on the app the area it has covered.

The robot can quickly move in all floor surfaces, the hardwood floors, tiles, low and medium-pile carpets.

When it detects the carpet, the robot automatically increases the suction power to pick up dirt and hair deep in the carpet. A feature that is not present in the Roomba i7.

After a cleaning section is complete, the robot moves back to the base station unassisted. It has a 600 ml dustbin capacity, which will take about 100 minutes of cleaning on average to fill up. The removable dustbin is easy and quick to empty.

In addition to vacuuming your floors, the M7 Pro will also help you to mop your house. The robot comes with a 110ml water tank and ten pieces of washable cloths for mopping. Since the robot does not avoid the carpet when mopping, activate the Area Mode to have it clean specific areas.

Although the M7 pro does not come with the dust collector, you can install it. However, at an additional cost of $100, compared to Roomba, i7+ is more affordable.
