iRobot Roomba 690 Review, Pros and Cons

Vacuuming or cleaning the floors is an exhausting, repetitive task, which can be time-consuming. If you have a dirty house, it's one of the first things a hawk-eyed visitor will notice. Additionally, a dirty floor can keep your mind disorganized and distracted from doing other important work. If you are struggling with keeping your floors clean or getting rid of the stubborn pet hair, a robot vacuum can come in handy. The right robot vacuum does not get tired mid-way or get distracted when cleaning and can keep your house clean every day. The iRobot Roomba 690 is a fairly-priced, high-performance vacuum cleaner that will help keep your floors and carpets perfectly clean. Here is a Roomba 690 review to help you know the specs.

Here is the Main Features of iRobot Roomba 690
  • Technology- One of the things that you have to look for in modern home appliances like a vacuum cleaner is technology.
To give your house a thorough cleaning, Roomba 690 is integrated with a dirt detect technology. If you place the robot in an area with piles of dirt, it will recognize the dirt's magnitude and go over the area several times to ensure it has picked up all the dirt.
  • App Setup- Operating the Roomba 960 is manageable. First, plug in the robot to the dock and flip over the vacuum and pull out the yellow tab sticking out of the battery. Charge the battery fully for about three hours.
Download the iRobot app from the Google Play or Apple App Store and follow the guidelines. Create an account and sync it with the robot using the Wi-Fi. Note that this robot only works with 2.4GHz band Wi-Fi.
The mobile application is streamlined and intuitive, and you will activate the robot with just one touch. You do not have to be around a Wi-Fi connection to activate the robot. You can activate the machine while at work or just away. You can check the battery level, weekly schedules, and lifetime performance log only from your mobile phone.
  • Voice Commands- To use voice commands to control the robot, select the Connected Home Menu on the App, and follow the prompts to activate the voice commands. You can either use Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for voice commands over your bot.
If you are using Alexa, go to Amazon Alexa application, skills menu, select irobot home, and activate it. You can now start issuing voice commands to the bot to start or stop cleaning, move to the dock, request updates, etc. When using voice commands, you will need to be a little patient as you will experience a few quirks.
  • Performance- You would be safe to say that a Roomba 690 is a careful cleaner. Although it has only one power option with no quiet or max cleaner button, it still does a pretty decent job. The robot transverses easily through the hard floors, carpets and rugs in every room. It does not get stuck through tight areas, but sometimes it has a problem navigating through them.
The suction of this robot is powerful. At about an hour of cleaning, the dustbin will be almost full. However, it may have a few problems navigating through the dark rugs. This is because; the robot's infrared sensors take the dark colors to indicate that it is on edge or falling off a cliff.
Due to its powerful suction, the robot can suck up your cables if lying on the floor. However, removing the cables is easy, and it does not get damaged.
The robot has no problem navigating around the house. It can quickly move around the kitchen, bathroom, living room while avoiding the objects. Releasing and emptying the dustbin is easy. It has a small bar across the dustbin that swings open to allow the dust, dirt, and hair to fall off. You have to use a little effort when emptying the dustbin though.
  • Design- the Roomba 690 is not different from other robot vacuums. It has a circular design, and it weighs 7.7 pounds measuring 13 inches in diameter. It is 3.2 inches tall. The height allows it to smoothly go under the couches or kitchen cabinets to clean off the dust and the debris. It is fitted with bumpers on the edges. There are three buttons in the middle: the clean is the power button, the spot button launches spot cleaning, and the home button for returning the vacuum to the home base.
  • Features- As we have seen, Roomba 690 is connected to the Wi-Fi, and a mobile application. It has troubleshooting lights that flicker on the buttons, and a carrying handle makes the robot easy to carry around the house.
  • Price- At less than $500, you get a Wi-Fi-connected vacuum that you can easily control with your phone. The suction power is quite powerful, easy application setup cleans perfectly, and uses voice commands with Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.
